Proposals should be no more than 4 single-spaced pages in 12 point font. The hypotheses or the techniques to be developed should be clearly stated, the approaches to be used described, and the relevance of the studies to drug addiction clarified. Preliminary data on the studies are not required for the submission of the proposal. Proposals should state the length of time that support is requested—typically not more than one year. Requests to update equipment in existing programs or support for existing programs that are running out of funds will not be considered. Proposal Deadline is March 15.
The approved proposals will be funded for no more than $20,000 for one year (depending on the availability of funds and number of approved proposals). A request to extend the project for over one year will be considered, depending on the progress and merit of the project. Principal investigators of funded projects are expected to submit progress reports when the project period ends. The recipients of the seed grants are encouraged to submit RO1 grants using the data generated from the studies. Members of the Center will assist and advise on the RO1 grants submission to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Publications that result from research funded by a MCBDA seed grant MUST acknowledge the support from the National Institutes of Health grant DA011806.
